Our Tagline
You may have noticed our tagline, Connecting you with what you’ll love about Costa Rica.
What do you imagine you might end up loving about Costa Rica…the birds, the ziplines, the monkeys, the rain forest?
I clearly remember my very first visit to Costa Rica, way back in November of 1974. Coming from the late Fall browns and grays of hill-free Slower Delaware, the lush greens on the mountains around San José made quite an impact. I don’t know if I can say I loved that scenery, but beautiful, and impressive, it was.
The thing I loved about Costa Rica after my first visit wasn’t a thing, it was the Costa Rican people. I didn’t do tourism, in fact, almost nobody did tourism in Costa Rica in 1974. But, I did have the opportunity to spend several days in the homes of Costa Rican families both in Puerto Viejo de Sarapiquí to the north of San José and in Nicoya to the west. What I found was a warmth, and kindness in their hospitality that touched a deep part of me. I was only here for eight or nine days that time, but between my fumblings and bumblings with Spanish and my host families’ patient generosity, important positive connections were made.
Now that I’m here living and working in tourism I’ve discovered that I’m not alone in that perception. One of the things that people comment about after a few days here is the Costa Rican people – the guides, the hotel staff, the drivers, the smiles, the stories. There is a special brand of unassuming, hard-working, generous Costa Rican hospitality that can still be found in the rushing, ever smaller world of the 21st century, and it should not be missed when you visit Costa Rica.
Need I point out that I am not saying 100% of Costa Ricans fit this description? That would not be true, but what is true is that your vacation is richer by far when that type of good old-fashioned Costa Rican hospitality permeates each aspect of your visit, and Mi Lora Tours has the great privilege of connecting you with just that kind of hospitality.
So, back to the original question, “What do you imagine you will end up loving about Costa Rica?” The answer is “We don’t know…yet,” but we do know a lot of great people who will take good care of you and help you have fun discovering it.
